We contribute to the sustainable development of the regions where we operate
We have several initiatives, in all our units, that contribute to the development of communities under the influence of assets managed by the company, with its employees and other stakeholders. Below, learn about some examples of these actions whose mission is to collaborate with the socio-environmental development of the regions where we operate.
We have made consistent progress in mitigating climate change, with targets approved by the SBTi: a 59% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 27% reduction in Scope 3 emissions (categories 1 and 3) by 2033 (baseline 2019), in addition to achieving net zero for Scopes 1 and 2 by 2035.
The goal of supplying 100% of our assets with renewable electricity was achieved in 2024, one year ahead of schedule, through actions such as the acquisition of I-RECs, migration to the free energy market, and a partnership with Neoenergia. Our decarbonization strategy includes fleet electrification, energy efficiency, waste management, and expansion of renewable energy sources. We are recognized with an A– rating by CDP Climate Change and have earned the Gold Seal from the GHG Protocol for 12 consecutive years.
On the adaptation front, we incorporated climate change into our risk matrix in 2022 and committed to having climate resilience plans for 100% of assets with significant risks by 2025. The Climate Resilience Strategy operates on both operational and strategic fronts, with support from partners such as Climatempo, Cemaden, and MeteoIA for real-time monitoring and alerts. In 2024, we reviewed physical and transition risks and opportunities based on IPCC scenarios for 2030 and 2050, and began rolling out adaptation plans, with completion expected by the end of 2025.
In 2025, we joined the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), strengthening our commitment to transparency and strategic management of nature-related risks and opportunities. This membership supports the integration of environmental criteria into business decisions and intensifies actions for ecosystem protection and recovery, aligning our operations with global best practices for biodiversity conservation.
How to make the transport sector an active contributor to reducing brazil's emissions.
The Coalition for Transport Decarbonization is a multisectoral initiative launched in 2024, led by Motiva; the CEBDS – Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development; the CNT – National Confederation of Transport; and the National Observatory for Sustainable Mobility at Insper.
It brings together over 50 entities from the road, rail, waterway, air, urban mobility, and cross-sector infrastructure segments, with the goal of accelerating the transition to a cleaner, more efficient, and integrated transport system in Brazil.
We use the ISO 14001 standard as a guiding reference, which enables us to continuously improve our environmental performance, in compliance with current legislation and aligned with the industry's best practices.
Currently, 29% of the company is ISO 14001 certified. Among the assets that are not yet certified, 19% undergo third-party verification and 24% are internally assessed based on the standard’s criteria.
