Motiva Institute

About the Institute

Created more than a decade ago, the Motiva Institute is a private, non-profit organization that manages Motiva’s social investment. Its purpose is to promote social transformation and foster more sustainable cities and communities.

The Motiva Institute is the evolution of the former Instituto CCR, established in 2014, and reflects our brand’s transformation. More than just a new name, it represents a renewed perspective on the social impact we aim to create. We believe that true mobility begins when ideas and people move to transform realities.

Our Strategic Focus Areas

The Motiva Institute’s strategic pillars — Sustainable Solutions, Reducing Inequalities, and Quality of Life — guide our actions and investments to generate lasting social impact. They reflect our commitment to transforming cities and communities by promoting sustainable development, expanding access to opportunities, and improving well-being for all.

Sustainable Solutions

Sustainable mobility and nature-based solutions are pathways to more resilient, inclusive cities that are prepared for future challenges. Our focus is to foster innovative initiatives that promote urban development. We support the National Observatory of Sustainable Mobility, in partnership with Insper’s Arq.Futuro Cities Lab, which serves as a platform to collect, process, and analyze mobility operational data from various sources. We also participate in the Coalition for Transport Decarbonization, an initiative led by Motiva, CEBDS, CNT, and Insper’s Observatory, bringing together more than 50 associations, companies, and institutions to reduce sectoral greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70% by 2050.

Reducing Inequalities

Culture and education are powerful ways to transform lives. Our commitment is to expand access to opportunities, bringing people closer to knowledge, culture, and education to transform lives and reduce inequalities. We support and implement projects that connect communities to key cultural spaces, such as the Museum of Tomorrow (RJ), the Museum of the Portuguese Language (SP), the Brazilian Museum of Sculpture and Ecology – MuBE (SP), the Casa de Jorge Amado Foundation (BA), the Tomie Ohtake Institute (SP), and the São Paulo Biennial, as well as initiatives like the Nature Based Schools program and the Centenaries Project. We are also present at the country’s main book fairs and literary festivals: the São Paulo Book Fair, FLIP (International Literary Festival of Paraty), FLUP (Peripheral Literary Festival), and Flipelô (International Literary Festival of Pelourinho). In addition, we support the Osesp Foundation through the Motiva Cultural Station, strengthening the dissemination of music, art, and culture across different regions.

Quality of Life

Health and sports are pathways to more vibrant and healthier cities. We invest in initiatives that enhance people's well-being, promote healthy habits, and make our urban spaces more sustainable and welcoming. We run the Caminhos para a Saúde (Paths to Health) Program, which has been active for over 20 years, providing health and wellness services to communities, truck drivers, passengers, and customers in our areas of operation. We also support hospitals and sports projects, expanding access to care, encouraging physical activity, and promoting a healthier lifestyle.
